Spring cleaning 🌷🌱🐝

Hello my dear fellow gardeners πŸ’š

Yesterday was the first dry day during the weekend since the start of the year so it was time I got the garden spring ready! I never really clean out the garden during fall, I just let everything as it is so that our wild bee friends 🐝have some shelter for their underground houses. Yes, I might be the new mother Theresa. πŸ˜‡ Jokes aside, it does mean I have A LOT of work to do during spring. Getting started made me really excited for all the beautiful flowers we will see in a little while so it wasn't that bad after all. The fiancΓ© even helped out a little bit while our dog watched us from her lazy chair in the living room.

There were some nice surprises though! The alliums I planted last year have multiplied and so have my beloved foxgloves. And, for the first time since I started the garden, one of the delphiniums survived the winter! πŸŽ‰ Let's just hope the slugs haven't noticed...

My survivor delphinium πŸ’ͺ

So all in all I am a very happy gardener. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. We really need to work on the area behind the flower beds. We are planning on removing the existing border around the gazebo so the surrounding space can turn into a lawn for our dog to play on. I'm also planning to move one of the hydrangeas and the Gentle Hermione rose to a better location. Next week the German Aldi has organic manure on offer so I can feed the plants and lastly we need to remove the dead foliage in the front garden so we'll be busy for some time!

So many new alliums! 😱

After all that hard I'm now enjoying the views of the fruits of my labour and dreaming of all the plants I could add to the garden. πŸ˜… Lilies, snapdragons, David Austin roses, clematis, hollyhocks... A girl can dream!😘

Xoxo S.
